Manchester four-piece Spring King may be a relatively unknown unsigned act, but they can now firmly place themselves in the history books after being the first band to be played on Beats 1 radio station.

The art-pop punk band, who released hit single City back in April 2015, have received industry interest since Zane Lowe played their track on his debut Apple show. Despite being offered a record deal several times, frontman Tarek Musa has so far turned down all offers to concentrate on writing the band’s first album. Having already released two EPs, and with Musa signed to Transgressive Producers with writing credits for several other up and coming artists, it looks these four musicians could be the new kings of the Manchester music scene before long.
